A Projul alternative, if the measuring is what you came for

Projul is all-in-one construction management software, and a good deal of it is genuinely good. This page is about one thing the directory listings never mention: which rung of their ladder the measuring help appears on, and what that means if you are a three person shop.

No card. Two scans, then you decide.

Who is on page one, and who is missing from it

G2, Capterra, GetApp on the UK domain, Software Advice twice on two country domains, SaaSWorthy, SoftwareWorld. Then two pages written by somebody with an interest: a BuilderPad page aimed straight at this phrase, and a roofing software roundup.

What is missing is anybody doing the obvious thing. Every directory page prints a starting price in a column and moves on. Not one of them opens Projul's own pricing page and reads down it, which takes about two minutes and changes the answer.

So that is what this page does, and then it says where we fit and where we do not.

What Projul is, said fairly

Projul is all-in-one construction management software, flat rate rather than per user, and it says it is used by more than five thousand contractors. Lead management, CRM, estimates and change orders, reusable cost assemblies, e-signatures, invoicing and payments, progress billing, selections, scheduling with Gantt charts, job costing, purchase orders, geofenced time tracking, daily logs, a mobile app, QuickBooks and Zapier. There is a live construction cost feed through a 1build integration, and the top tier adds a connection that lets you drive Projul from a chat assistant.

That is a wide product and the flat rate pricing is a fair deal for a crew that keeps adding people. If what is hurting you is work falling between sold and finished, this is the right shape of purchase and we are not.

The ladder, and where the measuring sits on it

Read their pricing page down, as published: Starter at 199 a month billed annually, up to three users, with lead management, estimating, invoicing and scheduling. Core at 399, up to ten users, adding change orders, CRM, lead capture and payment processing. Core+ at 599, up to twenty, adding job costing, budgeting, progress billing and the client portal. Pro at 1,199 and unlimited users, adding the chat assistant connection, daily logs, GPS and geofencing, purchase orders, and the one line that matters here: Field Takeoffs.

Field Takeoffs is the only measuring word anywhere on that page, and the page does not explain what it is. Ask them before you assume. It may be exactly what you need or it may be a plan based takeoff that still has somebody standing in the room, and that is a question for their sales call and not for a page like this one.

Either way, note where it is. A three person remodeling shop is buying Starter at 199. At that rung you get estimating, which means a form to put quantities into once you have been and got them. The measuring is not in the box at any price under about fourteen thousand a year, and nobody on page one tells you that.

How one lead runs here

1

You text a link

The enquiry comes in and she gets a link, not a slot on Tuesday evening. Nothing to install and no account to make.

2

She walks the room herself

On a recent iPhone Pro the room is measured with LiDAR as she walks it. On any other phone it falls back to photographs plus the room sizes she types in, and the photos upload one at a time as she takes them.

3

You get a scope brief to argue with

A vision model reads her photographs and a model writes the scope. You read it and fix what it has got wrong. It is a first draft written by something that has never carried a sheet of plasterboard up a stair.

4

Your own book makes the number

The scope is priced against your cost book, line by line, every quantity traceable to where it came from. No model sets a price here, and no market average does either.

5

Then you choose who gets the drive

Go out and measure the ones worth winning. The rest have a number and you still have your evening.

When Projul is the right buy

Plainly, because sending you to the wrong product wastes both our time. Buy Projul, not this, if any of the following is the thing keeping you up.

Questions contractors ask

Can I run both?

Yes, and that is the normal answer. The first pass happens here, and the job that gets signed goes into Projul through Zapier. We are the front of the funnel, they are the rest of it.

What is Field Takeoffs, exactly?

We do not know, and we are not going to guess on a page you might buy from. Projul names it on the Pro tier and does not describe it. Ask them what it needs as an input, and specifically whether somebody has to be in the room.

Does this replace going out to measure?

On the first pass, usually. Before you build and order, no. Measure the job you won properly. What this takes away is measuring the two you were never going to win.

Our homeowners have Android phones.

Then there is no LiDAR and it falls back to photographs plus the room sizes she types in. You get her pictures and her numbers, which are her numbers and should be read as such.

Does AI set the price?

No. A vision model reads the photographs, a model writes the scope brief, and renders come from an image model. The price is arithmetic against your own cost book. Every line traces back to a quantity and a rate you set.

What does this cost?

Two scans free with no card. Solo is 79 a month for one user and 20 scans, Crew is 149 for five users and 60 scans, Shop is 349 for unlimited users and 200 scans. Extra scans are 4 dollars each and nothing locks. A job one of your own people captures on site is not metered on any plan.
