Canvas by Occipital alternative

A Canvas by Occipital alternative for when you need a price, not a drawing

Canvas turns a scan you take into measurements and drafted plans. ScanToScope has the homeowner scan her own room before you drive out, and prices it against your cost book. If you are searching for an alternative, the first thing to know is that Canvas did not go away. It changed its name.

Two free scans, no card.

Canvas is called Twindo now

Occipital renamed Canvas to Twindo on 5 February 2026. Accounts, projects and workflows carried over, nothing was discontinued, and the same team still runs it. Most of the pages ranking for the old name were written years before that and none of them mention it, which is why half the people searching for an alternative are really searching for a product that simply changed its sign.

So before you replace it, check whether you actually want to. If Canvas was doing the job, Twindo is still doing the job.

What Canvas was always for

Canvas is documentation. You walk a space with a device that has LiDAR, you get measurements and a model, and you can order drafted plans back from them for a price per square foot. The buyers are design practices, architects and the people who need an accurate record of a building that already exists.

It is good at that. It is not built to tell you whether a lead is worth an hour in traffic, and it was never meant to.

Who has to be standing in the room

This is the only question that really separates them, and no alternative listicle asks it.

With Canvas, the scan is yours. You are already there, which means the drive already happened, which means the one cost you were trying to kill is the one cost you still paid. That is fine when the job is sold and you need an accurate record of the space.

With ScanToScope, the scan is hers. You send a link after the first phone call, she opens it in her browser, and on a recent iPhone Pro the phone measures the room with LiDAR. On any other phone she takes photos and types in the room sizes. Either way you are looking at something real before you decide to get in the truck.

1

The room, measured

LiDAR measurements from a recent iPhone Pro. On any other phone, photos plus the sizes she types in.

2

Her photos

Uploaded one at a time as she takes them, so a weak signal in a back bathroom does not lose the whole set.

3

A price from your book

The submission is priced against the cost book you loaded. Your rates, your markup, no model guessing at your numbers.

What each one costs

Different shapes, because they are different jobs. Twindo charges you per square foot for drafted output. We charge a flat monthly price with a scan allowance.

Questions contractors ask

Is Canvas by Occipital discontinued?

No. It was renamed Twindo in February 2026. The same team runs it, existing accounts and projects carried over, and there was no migration to do.

Does ScanToScope give me a floor plan or a CAD file?

No, and you should know that before you sign up. You get room measurements, the homeowner's photos and a price built from your cost book. If what you need is a drafted as built drawing, Twindo is the better buy.

Can I use both?

Plenty of remodelers would. Qualify and quote the lead with a scan she takes herself, then scan the space properly on site once the job is yours and you need the record.

What if the homeowner has an Android phone?

She takes photos and types in the room sizes. It is rougher than a LiDAR scan and we say so plainly. You decide whether it is enough to price from.

Does she have to install anything?

No. The link opens in the browser on her phone. No app, no store, no account.
